Review 2023

Playboy After Dark

On Thursday, April 13, 2023, London Alley (a production company known for working on music videos for Bad Bunny, The Weeknd, Post Malone, Ariana Grande, and Doja Cat to name a few) hosted "Playboy After Dark" the celebration of Playboy magazine's 70 anniversary at their London Alley Estate in Bermuda Dunes, CA.

Guests were shuttled to the estate starting at 9pm which was when the gates opened to this exclusive invite only party.

Many tried to get on the sought after guestlist to attend, but to their surprise, this party was an invite only event full of celebrities and social media influencers who were in town early to attend the Coachella Music and Arts festival which is just minutes away in Indio.

For the iconic magazine's 70th anniversary, the theme for the celebration was inspired by the brands founder and publisher Hugh Hefner's Playboy After Dark television show which originally filmed at CBS Television City in Los Angeles, California, and aired for two seasons (52 episodes) from January 18, 1979 to May 31, 1970.

Upon arrival to the party, guests walked thru a cool walk thru installation that featured retro looking televisions that actually displayed video images from the Playboy After Dark show. Then walk thru a dark walkway that had art pieces that resembled a sea of paparazzi's with strobing lights that made you feel like you were walking down the red carpet at a major premiere or award show.

After surviving all the strobing flashes, a

ctual photographers were waiting for you to do a step and repeat photo session with a backdrop filled with event logos.

Once done with being photographed, and taking your own selfies, guests walked into the outdoor and indoor party areas which featured several open bars, four featuring Kendall Jenner's award-winning 818 Tequila, one featuring Tres Generaciones Tequila (I recommend the sweet and spicy Plata), and a cart featuring a Nutrl vodka seltzer drink.

To set the mood for the night, Scottish DJ and Electronic Music Maker DJ Love Shaun premiered his talents at the London by mixing up some of his unreleased originals and remixes of dancefloor favorites.

Then East London DJ, Producer, Fashionista and touring DJ for Megan Thee Stallion, DJ Sionhan Bell got the crowd hyped up with some Hip-Hop and Trap music. Love Shaun got back on the decks to hit the crowd a second time to prepare them for the nights special guest.

Wearing his Ike Turner inspired mushroom hair better know as his Silk Sonic black wig, the night's special guest made his way thru the crowd and up to the stage with all of his entourage following. The long awaited special guest, Anderson .Paak aka DJ Pee .Wee (one half of the famed duo group Silk Sonic, other half being Bruno Mars) took over the decks, I mean turntables with his all vinyl set playing some Funk, Soul, some Del La Soul, and of course some Silk Sonic classic hits, the crowds sang a long and danced till the last record dropped.

Celebrity guests in attendance Myles O'Neil, Nyjah Huston, Tyga to mention a few (will list a few more this week).

Big thank you to London Alley, and to all the sponsors for putting on a great party, and for the invite, can't wait till next years party!
